Linda Chavers
Linda Chavers is a first-year doctoral
student in Harvard University's African and African-American Studies department
with a focus on English Literature. A
Washington, D.C native, she received her B.A. in Cultural Studies at New York
University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study in 2003. From there, she
set out to be a fabulous writer on all things fabulous and amazing. That translated to stints as a broke
fact-checker at The Nation magazine, a very enthusiastic editorial assistant at
The New York Times Magazine, and a reluctant assistant editor at Vogue
Magazine. She finally realized she needed some more credentials so she packed
up to Cambridge. Academically, she is
interested in violence as it pertains to identity-making, sexuality, and the
body; she also does book reviewing and narrative pieces.
