Jennifer Johnston
Jen Johnston serves as the Media & Imaging Coordinator and Webmaster at Mount Auburn Cemetery. Jen, who has a B.A. in Philosophy from the State University of New York, began photographing the Cemetery while studying in the Master of Liberal Arts program in Studio Arts, Film & Photography at Harvard University Extension in 1997. In her sixteen years on staff at the Cemetery, Jen has taken thousands of photographs of visitors, staff, events, horticulture, built structures, monuments, funerary artwork and wildlife. Since 2010, Jen’s photo exhibit “Seasons of Mount Auburn” has been displayed at the Cambridge Savings Bank, the First Church of Boston and Mount Auburn Hospital among other locations. More recently, photos that Jen has taken of the Cemetery have appeared on the WGBH digital mural in Boston, in Yankee Magazine, the Boston Globe and on the websites of CNN and the Weather Channel. In addition to taking photos of Mount Auburn, Jen is the managing editor of Sweet Auburn magazine and also coordinates the use of staff photos and visitor image submissions in printed and electronic communications including, the Cemetery’s Annual Report, annual appeals, electronic newsletters, website and a growing list of various social media platforms including Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, Pinterest, Issuu, Twitter, Youtube, and Vimeo. http://www.mountauburn.org/2013/find-mount-auburn-on-social-media/ http://www.mountauburn.org/2013/african-american-trail/
