Green Money for Tornado Victims

posted by Maureen Turner

This Thursday, Feb. 23, state officials will hold a public information session about funds that are available for property owners looking to rebuild green after last summer’s tornadoes.

The ReBuild Western Massachusetts program is offering a rather impressive list of incentives to help those affected by the storms rebuild their properties in the energy-efficient and sustainable ways. The program, under the Mass. Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, has grants and zero-interest loans that can be used for energy-efficient doors, windows and heating systems, insulation and solar panels, among other uses. The program is open to homeowners, business owners, churches, schools and other public buildings, and non-profit organizations.

ReBuild Western Mass. has $8 million to offer—much of which has yet to be claimed. For information about how to apply, click here. Or go to this week’s meeting, on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Social Hall, 375 Island Pond Rd.
