Ashley Baylor isn't just a pretty face who reads the weather while waiting to be “discovered.” She has a degree in broadcast meteorology from SUNY-Albany and develops her own forecasts, and she prides herself on their truthiness. “I don't hype storms,” she says. “I don't say, Be sure you stock up on bread and water. Viewers are really smart. They can tell who's being fake on air.” Among the challenges of her job, she says, are the varied microclimates in the Valley, where areas very close to each other experience quite different temperatures, and the variability of weather conditions. “It's always changing,” she says. “There's nothing we don't get here except sandstorms.”
