Haven owner Penelope Silverstein has been piercing in the Valley for 16 years, and she knows what clients are looking for: a clean, comfortable studio; knowledgeable, experienced staff (Haven's piercers are all members of the Association of Professional Piercers); a wide range of options that allow creativity. (In addition to piercing, the studio also does custom tattoos.) A Hampshire College alum, Silverstein opened Haven in 2009. "What's been most rewarding is how loyal and supportive people have been," she says. "The Valley is a strange little cluster of good. Being here is fantastic."
