Ten Thousand Villages

Ten Thousand Villages is a nonprofit organization that's been in business in Northampton for 11 years, and is part of a 120-store network throughout the U.S. and Canada that was founded by the Mennonite Central Committee in 1946. Its mission is to create opportunities for artisans in developing countries to market their products in North America and to tell their stories, and it strives to maintain long-term relationships with its suppliers. The Northampton store is staffed by both paid employees and volunteers, under the management of Karen Shanahan.
