Downtown Brattleboro isn't just one "spot," but rather an entire thriving community. Andrea Livermore, executive director of the non-profit Building a Better Brattleboro, lists the city's many charms and strengths: an eclectic collection of unique shops, galleries, restaurants; a high concentration of artistic, independently minded folks; a rich history reflected in its architecture; events like gallery walks and live music performance; and beloved institutions like the 1930s art deco-style Latchis Theater. "There's never a dull moment," says Livermore, who values the city's genuine, ungentrified quality.
