In 1907, Robert Samble's grandparents started their laundry business on Belmont Street in Springfield with only a wash tub and a bicycle. Over a century later, Robert's son, Derrek, works alongside his father managing the business, and with years of investment and pioneering new techniques, they have now adopted a 100-percent green cleaning process, using only biodegradable detergents. The transformation hasn't been easy, and father and son both emphasize that being "green" is more than buying the right equipment, but truly understanding the processes involved. This means that their new process is gentler on fabrics, leaving them softer, and they claim to return shirts and blouses to their customers that are cleaner and better cared for than anywhere else in the Valley.
