About 4,300 babies are born each year at Wesson, where women can be assisted by doctors or nurse-midwives. The unit also has the only neonatal intensive care unit in the area and is well suited for higher-risk births, including older moms and multiples, explains Dr. Ronald Burkman of the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. Teamwork and collaboration among the staff are a key to Wesson's success, adds Nancy Rines, R.N.
