Lucky's owner Skip Traverse got his first tattoo at age 50. Despite his coming late to the ink party, he's run the Valley's favorite tattoo and piercing parlor for years now, and is approved by the Association of Professional Piercers (APP). He's adding both a new tattoo artist and a new piercer (both trained through in-house apprenticeships). Lucky's has also expanded its jewelry selection, and having tallied just under 5,000 piercings in 2009 (noses the no. 1 most popular thing to pierce, in case you were wondering), it's a good thing. Lucky's also likes to give back to the community when it can; two weeks before Christmas the shop did free piercing if you donated $5 to the Food Bank, an effort that raised $1,500.
