With a quiet dignity perhaps in contrast to its typical atmosphere of feasting and celebration, Bub's has just celebrated its 30th anniversary of covering patrons in the debauched and delicious juices from its racks of baby back ribs, tender pulled pork and ostrich burgers. (Don't worry, they still give your own roll of paper towels.) Sides include barbecue staples like spicy dirty rice, baked beans, French fries, sweet potatoes, collard greens, pickled beets and the notorious fried Twinkies, and the house has local BBC brews on tap, plus a few other beers. Outside tables provide for seasonal picnicking, and Bub's caters private events from April to November, including birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, college parties and more. Add to these features an authentic roadhouse atmosphere and a free jukebox and you can see why Bub's was recently featured on TV and radio's "Phantom Gourmet," and will also appear in next month's "Esquire" magazine.
