For the last 20 years, the Jimmy Fund's Chefs for Jimmy fundraiser has been held in January, offering a festive event to warm up the dark days of winter and to raise funds for research and patient care at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Thirty restaurants from across the Pioneer Valley donate two of their best dishes and their serving staff to accommodate the approximately 1,000 hungry dinner guests. The event is popular with the attendees who, in addition to the food, enjoy an intimate business networking opportunity, and many restaurants return for multiple years. Despite a tough economy, this year the entirely volunteer-run event brought in 5 percent more than last year, without raising ticket prices.
