Jarrett Saunders thinks one of the reasons UMass-Amherst regularly wins our readers' vote for Best Four-Year College in the Valley is that it works hard to keep the student's experience intact. Though there are around 20,000 undergraduates, the University works hard to keep class sizes small. Over the past year, it's added new facilities (science, arts, and recreation) and a new dorm. The Commonwealth College is also an exciting addition to the mix; it's a college within the college for honors students. With its liberal-arts-college feel at state university prices, UMass' profile has been steadily growing.
