In business for 20 years, Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters is a true pioneer in the small-batch roasting world, coming on the scene at a time when most people considered Maxwell House a premium coffee. Founder Curtis Rich has seen the business grow, but the process remains the same as it was in the beginning: "We try to do things as hands-on as possible; we try to get the best beans we can; we try to be as consistent as we can." Does that get boring? "It's like cooking," says Rich. "It's a fun process. I'm still as thrilled by a 20-pound bag of good coffee as I ever was."
