Michael Kittredge, the founder and former owner of Deerfield's Yankee Candle Village, shares several preoccupations with the legendary Walt Disney, such as a fondness for German folk art and culture and a vision of a nostalgic, "magical" locale. Though Kittredge no longer presides over New England's number one tourist destination, his inspirations still define the company. Guests from all corners of the world flood the "Village" to gaze at the beautifully landscaped grounds and the Disney-esque exhibits-- and to shop for the legendary candles (all manufactured domestically) and homewares.
