Standing in the Shadows

Change of Scene

Last week, I posted a photo of a snowman to Only in Northampton’s Facebook page. This week, I saw a sandsnowman.

And that’s really all there is to say.

Up on Brain, Child’s Brain Mother blog my essay about a surprise that happened to me on Saskia’s sixth birthday.

Nail color name I just have to share: Keeping My Maiden Name. I clicked (you can too). I would totally wear that color and not just because of its sentiment (but talk about smart advertising).

The #365FeministSelfie project is on day 50. I haven’t been a daily participant (and have tweeted more pics than I’ve posted on Facebook). I like it, though. See yourself, your “in real life,” as my newly-minted six year-old would say, for the beauty—not all the other ways we see ourselves (at least me). My most recent snapped purposefully on the beach with my MOTE (Mothers on the Edge) cap on. Yes, that’s the name of my longstanding mothers’ group. We started in about third grade and our same-grade charges are seniors, now. We have lived through some stuff. And continue to laugh more than cry, but that too.

Grateful for all the people I can laugh and cry with (and there are many), grateful for the chance to drink in the golden light, and grateful for a chance to spend time with my mama this week. She’s a through thick and thin kind of parent. Not all parents are, so consider that a double heap of gratitude.
