The 10 Gallon Liberal

Devolution

Jan. 17:

1) "The president of the National Rifle Association (NRA) on Thursday said that the organization was 'generally supportive' of strong background checks on firearm purchasers."

2) "A CBS News poll released Thursday shows 92 percent of voters favor background checks for all buyers, including 85 percent of those from an NRA household" (from same story).

March 15:

3) "The NRA's Wayne LaPierre says those who favor mandatory background checks may be, quote, 'insane.'"

April 1:

4) "Despite a concerted push from President Obama, Democratic leaders see no clear path to securing the 60 votes needed to break a promised Republican filibuster and ensure passage of legislation mandating background checks for gun purchases. Along with getting no help from Republicans, numerous Democrats facing re-election next year are skittish.

... Politically, Democratic leaders are in a lose-lose predicament. If they somehow squeeze background checks through the Senate (it’ll still have to pass the House), their vulnerable members will face the wrath of the NRA."

I've yet to hear anyone on any side argue that the status quo regarding gun laws is the best we can do. But it's where this is headed, despite even numbers like that remarkable 85 percent above. Someone's will is being done, but clearly not that of a large number of Americans, NRA members and non-.

A CUNNING PLAN:

Georgia GOP chairwoman Sue Everhart has come up with the real reason to oppose gay marriage--straight people faking the gay to get health care:

“You may be as straight as an arrow, and you may have a friend that is as straight as an arrow,” Everhart said. “Say you had a great job with the government where you had this wonderful health plan. I mean, what would prohibit you from saying that you’re gay, and y’all get married and still live as separate, but you get all the benefits? I just see so much abuse in this it’s unreal.”

So apparently Obamacare would make all that fake gay marrying unnecessary?
