On Springfield

Celebrate with No One Leaves

In the little more than two years since its founding, Springfield No One Leaves/Nadie Se Mude has become an important voice in the city, organizing protests at foreclosed homes; advocating for struggling residents about to lose their homes and the neighborhoods that suffer when they do; speaking up about the flaws in a system that make it so difficult for homeowners to get back in their feet and keep their homes.

This Saturday, the group hosts a “red-tie” party (guests are asked to wear something red) to celebrate “pushing back against the greedy banks for over two years.”

“Celebrate and honor our successes, achievements, our struggles and how we over came them and are still fighting,” organizers say. The party will include dinner, a DJ, award presentations, a fashion show and performances.

The celebration takes place on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 6 to 11 p.m. at VFW Post 7352, at 63 Veterans Way in Forest Park. Tickets are $5 for members and $10 for non members; parties of four or more pay $20 (members) or $35 (non members).
