Shakespeare's rough-and-tumble comedy The Taming of the Shrew gets a workout in Look Park's Pines Theater this weekend—and so does the cast in the Valley's newest theatrical ensemble, the August Company. Eight actors play all the roles, doubling up on parts "in a mad way," according to director Sheila Siragusa, "in a play that's already about deception and disguise."

The production features Kelsey Flynn as the bad-tempered "shrew" and Steve Angel as the fortune seeker who sets out to tame her. It's updated to post-WWII Italy, with Italian food, songs and snatches of Italian dialogue adding to the atmosphere in the outdoor setting. "We're doing as much as we can," says Siragusa, "to see how much ensemble juice we can get out of the piece."

Aug. 29 (rain date Sept. 5), 7 p.m., $10/tickets, $5/parking, Pines Theater, Look Park, Florence, http://august-company.com.
