Western Mass arts cats can mewl all they want about that 45-minute drive to Brattleboro — sometimes the journey is damn well worth it. That’s never been more true than this month, when the ’boro and neighboring towns throughout Windham County, Vermont, play host to an enormous array of exhibitions, performances, and arts happenings. It’s for the first annual ARTstravaganza celebration, organized by the Arts Council of Windham County. The three-day bash includes more than 30 fine art exhibitions, aerial performances by the New England Center for Circus Arts, a museum of ancient artifacts (some over 3,000 years old) at Beadnik’s, outdoor visual art projections, open studios, an art market, a film/live theater mash-up featuring remastered footage of the first movie ever made in Vermont in 1916, live performances by the Celebration Brass Band, Moon Dogs, and World Dance, and an Arts After Dark series boasting jazz, cabaret, poetry, storytelling, and dance parties. Check out the full schedule and locations on the ARTstravaganza Facebook event page.

ARTstravaganza: May 6-8. Most events are free. Various locations in Brattleboro and throughout Windham County, VT.
