Want to weigh in on MGM’s South End casino proposal?
Then be sure to make it to the Mass Gaming Commission’s final community meeting on the matter, to be held tomorrow—Tuesday, April 1—from 4 to 6 p.m. (or later, if necessary) at the Mass Mutual Center.
The program will include a presentation from MGM about its proposed $800 million development, followed by questions and comments from city officials, officials from nearby communities, representatives of entertainment venues that would be affected by the casino, and the public.

Members of the public who would like to speak will be limited to five minutes and must sign up ahead of time, which can be done in person or via email, to mgccomments@state.ma.us. Written comments can also be submitted ahead of the meeting to the same address; be sure to note in the subject line that your comments pertain to the MGM proposal.
Various groups with an interest in the matter are rallying their constituents; the Springfield Preservation Trust, for instance, is asking supporters to come to call on MGM to protect historic properties in the neighborhood. The company is also urging pro-casino residents to show up, sending out an email saying, “We need our supporters to attend and tell the Commission about MGM’s commitment to creating thousands of new, local jobs and how our project will provide enormous economic benefits to the city.”
