Sex is in the air on two Hartford stages. On one, sexual longing and confusion, Shakespeare style; on the other, the queen of sex talk. That would be Dr. Ruth Westheimer, the diminutive sex therapist known for her witty, unabashed approach to bedroom issues. TheaterWorks presents a revival of Debra Jo Rupp’s delightful solo tour de force in the Mark St. Germain play first seen at Barrington Stage Company last summer, now retitled Becoming Dr. Ruth.
At Hartford Stage, summer blossoms forth in Twelfth Night, that Shakespearean comedy of misplaced love, mistaken identity and idyllic foolery. Darko Tresnjak’s colorful production is set in the hedge maze of an old-world country estate, representing the play’s tortuous path through mixups and mayhem to (mostly) happy endings.
