On April 4, Steve Marion’s music was featured in Paper Mirrors, a documentary produced by UMass’ The Brio Life Arts collective that attempts to illustrate the common thread between sight and sound.
On April 15, Marion leaps from the silver screen to the stage proper when his Delicate Steve band performs at Pearl Street (iheg.com) in support of fellow guitar-based indie rockers Dirty Projectors. The local play comes on the heels of Marion’s recent South By Southwest Performance touting Positive Force—his new full length offering out on David Byrnes’ Luaka Bop label. Delicate Steve has also recently toured Europe with Icelandic ambient icons Sigur Ros and been featured in Pitchfork and on Stereogum and National Public Radio.
Tix for the Pearl Street performance are $23 in advance, $20 at the door. This show has an 8 p.m. start.

In other news, the Valley’s own reggae-rockers Danny Pease and The Regulators join a host of local notables including the Ryan Montbleau Band, experimental/prog practictioner Jeff Bujak, Primate Fiasco and more at Rock ’n’ Roll Resort V3: A Tiny Rager. The multi-day, multi-band festival occupies the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa in Kerhonkson, New York April 12-14.
“Our favorite part of it all is that after a long night of playing and partying, we get to pass out in our rooms!” says Pease, adding that his DPR band was asked to join the sonic party on the back of their previous performances for the local Wormtown and StrangeCreek Festivals. “But more than that, I can also say that, although this festival has a diverse lineup, there is still a common thread between the bands. Sometimes you see festivals with so many different acts that it can become a little bit polarizing at times. I think Rock ’n’ Roll Resort has done a great job selecting its lineup for this year.”
Other acts on the bill include the Nigel Hall Band, Ghosts of Jupiter, Goosepimp Orchestra and Woodstock-based funk-faves Soulive—the last of which performs two evenings.

Speaking of festivals, Greenfield’s annual Green River Fest (greenriverfestival.com) recently announced its 2013 headliners. And in keeping with the previous 26 installments, the most attended outdoor event in Western Mass. appears to have a musical roster that will make other fests green with envy.
In addition to the aforementioned Ryan Montbleau, the Green River Festival has netted acclaimed singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile, The Devil Makes Three, Todd Snider and The Bernie Worrell Orchestra this summer, to name a choice few. Presented by the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and boasting a host of children’s activities and even hot air balloon rides throughout its run, the 2013 Green River Festival takes place July 20-21 on the grounds of Greenfield Community College.

Meanwhile, the boys of summer may be back in the swing of things, but one lad from Liverpool is utilizing the occasion of an away game for New England’s home team to rock the house. That’s right, Sir Paul McCartney will take over friendly Fenway Park on Tuesday, July 9, as the Sox battle the Mariners in Seattle. Tix are available at livenation.com.
That said, those who don’t feel like Pike-ing to get their Beatles fix don’t have to. From now through June 12, Springfield Museums (springfieldmuseums.org) features The Beatles! Backstage and Behind the Scenes, an exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts. Documenting the U.S. arrival of the Fab Four as captured through the lens of CBS Television/Life photographer Bill Eppridge, Backstage and Behind The Scenes offers a rare firsthand account of the hysteria and cultural shock wave that can still be felt more than half a century later. On Sunday, April 21, Eppridge himself will be on hand at the museum to provide a narrative lecture.•
