According to the White House, children will be the big losers as the federal budget sequester—a set of automatic cuts—hits Massachusetts this year. If money for these key programs isn’t restored, here’s a rough guide to what will happen:

*$13.9 million in funding for K-12 public education will disappear, possibly eliminating 190 teachers and aides.

$13.4 million in funding for teachers and other personnel who assist children with disabilities will leave the state.

*1,100 children will no longer be served by Head Start programs.

*$201,000 in funding to vaccinate children would be lost, meaning that more than 2,900 fewer children would not be vaccinated for measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, whooping cough, flu and hepatitis B.•
