Want to know more about MGM Resorts’ proposal to build a casino in the South End?

Tomorrow evening, Nov. 13, MGM representatives will meet with residents and answer questions at a meeting hosted by the Maple High Six Corners Neighborhood Council. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in the community room of the Mason Wright Senior Center, at 74 Walnut St.

(MGM’s proposal, as well as those submitted by the two other casino companies courting Springfield, can be found on a City Hall website here.)

The neighborhood council is also asking those who attend to donate supplies (new underwear, socks, pajamas and diapers) to be distributed by the American Red Cross to victims of Hurricane Sandy—“because we know the road to recovery is long,” notes a press release announcing the event. Indeed, disaster recovery is a subject with which Maple High Six Corners is unfortunately familiar; the neighborhood was especially hard-hit by the June 2011 tornado.
