It was a sad day last winter when Sitar shut its doors; as Ray Kelly reported at the time in the Republican, the popular Indian restaurant closed due to the bad economy.

But good news for lovers of Indian cuisine: last week, a new restaurant, Panjabi Tadka, opened in the site of the former Sitar, at 1688 Main St. in the Paramount block. Here, Mike Dobbs of the Reminder reports that a hungry crowd gathered outside the restaurant for its grand opening.

Panjabi Tadka will be open for lunch Monday through Saturday, and dinner every night of the week. Click here for a menu.
