Talk about burying big news–this is what the administration did over the New Year’s weekend:

Says the ACLU, “President Obama’s action today is a blight on his legacy because he will forever be known as the president who signed indefinite detention without charge or trial into law. The statute is particularly dangerous because it has no temporal or geographic limitations, and can be used by this and future presidents to militarily detain people captured far from any battlefield.”

But hey, he promises not to do anything untoward, unless you’ve committed what someone (who knows who?) has determined to be “a belligerent act.”

Of course, you could always vote Republican.

I guess it comes down to whether you want the slide to fascism to be greased with canola or motor oil.

I preferred the country “of laws, not men.”
