Among the people who wrote to the judge in the public corruption trial of Sal DiMasi, who was asking for leniency for the convicted House Speaker? None other than former Springfield Mayor Mike Albano, reports Channel 22.

Given the number of Albano’s pals and former employees who’ve done their own stints in federal prison —Gerry Phillips, Anthony and Chester Ardolino, Jimmy Asselin—we suspect Mayor Mike probably has drafted a form letter by this point, to spare himself writers’ cramp.

By the way, DiMasi—the third consecutive House speaker convicted on corruption charges—ended up with an eight-year sentence.
