Shaolin Chuan is the official name of the 1,000-year-old art of spiritual kung fu practices, wherein students pursue rigorous exercises, hand-to-hand martial arts and weapons combat that require minds and bodies that are kept in peak form. Originating in China's Henan Province, the Shaolin Warriors maintain a program wherein their monks, young and old, steadfastly perfect their skills in not only combat but also in dance-like movement, gymnastics and acrobatics. Often compared to Cirque du Soleil for their showmanship, the touring troupe of Chinese performers never fails to awe, dazzle and entertain audiences with impressive feats of physical prowess and daring acts of danger courtship. Presented in collaboration with the Asian Arts and Culture program.
