In 2000, photographer Jack Holowitz was given the Fellowship Award by the Professional Photographers Association of America, an honor offered to fewer than 100 photographers. A student of John Sexton (Ansel Adams' assistant), Holowitz takes photographs, including "Smooth as Silk" (pictured), that feature landscapes as well as figures.

Holowitz is one of numerous artists displaying work this fall at Gallery 137 as part of the exhibit The Feminine Mystique. Other artists include Claudine Bouchard, Sara Conklin, Florin Firimita, Lisa Harrington, Mark Woodcox and Daryl Zang.

Through Oct. 20, Gallery 137, 137 Main St., Indian Orchard, (413) 543-6994, www.gallery137.org.
